Journey (1992)

Journey is the first book with content I ever made (not counting those books made during elementary school using tape and staples.) I made this about 1992 when I was a student at BYU studying printmaking and just beginning to learn bookbinding. While I’m not really happy with the way this book is bound, it was during the binding of this book that I made the declaration, “I think I could do this the rest of my life.” to which Doug Himes, my teacher and advisor replied, “Why don’t you?” That’s when my future as a book freak was determined.

I can’t exactly remember the meaning behind the images so I’ll leave the interpretation to you.

Intaglio images on Arches paper. 8.25” x 6.5” x 0.25”.
